The Netrokona Medical College Research & Career Club, in collaboration with the Center for Science-Tech Policy & Diplomacy (CSTPD), successfully organized a career development session titled “The Doctor’s Career Compass: Research, Leadership & Global Opportunities” on 23 June 2026. The event brought together aspiring medical professionals eager to explore research, leadership, and international opportunities beyond conventional medical education.
The session featured Shahriar Hossain Shagor as the Distinguished Guest Speaker. He is the Founder & CEO of NextGen Doctors, Judge at QCWC under The Royal Commonwealth Society (UK), Director of AGR Venture, Founder of The English Squad, and Chairman of Orbit 64.As an entrepreneur, trainer, public speaker, and youth development advocate, Shahriar has dedicated his work to empowering students through communication, leadership, and real-world skill development. Through workshops, mentorship programs, and educational initiatives, he has directly impacted more than 5,000 students across Bangladesh, including over 3,000 female students.Having delivered 40+ lectures, workshops, and training programs across Bangladesh—including at the University of Dhaka, University of Chittagong, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), Sir Salimullah Medical College, Netrokona Medical College, Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology (BAUST), and Bangladesh University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), as well as several institutions affiliated with the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy—Shahriar shared valuable insights on research engagement, leadership development, communication excellence, professional growth, and global career pathways.During the session, participants explored the importance of academic research, portfolio development, networking, leadership skills, and effective communication in building a successful medical career. The discussion also highlighted scholarship opportunities, international collaborations, and strategies for becoming globally competitive healthcare professionals.Drawing from his experiences in youth leadership, education, and international engagement, Shahriar encouraged students to think beyond traditional academic boundaries and actively pursue opportunities that contribute to their personal and professional development. He emphasized the importance of combining clinical excellence with research, leadership, and communication skills to thrive in the evolving healthcare landscape.The program concluded with an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session, providing students of Netrokona Medical College with practical guidance, inspiration, and a broader perspective on navigating future opportunities in medicine, research, leadership, and global health.
