A strategy dialogue titled “Unlocking AI’s Potential in Life Sciences: A Policy Dialogue” was jointly organized by the Institute of Research, Innovation, Incubation and Commercialization (IRIIC) of United International University, in collaboration with the Center for Science, Technology Policy & Diplomacy (CSTPD)
The hybrid session, held on 12 April 2025, focused on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in life sciences, particularly in addressing Bangladesh’s healthcare priorities. The dialogue brought together global experts, policymakers, and researchers to explore how AI can reshape healthcare systems, research, and innovation ecosystems.Key thematic discussions addressed AI applications in healthcare, data governance, privacy and security frameworks, regulatory adaptation for rapid technological advancement, ethical guidelines, and strategies to promote investment and research in health AI. The need for infrastructure development and capacity building to support a sustainable AI-driven life sciences ecosystem in Bangladesh was also emphasized.
The session was moderated by Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al-Mamun, Professor, Department of CSE and Director of IRIIC at United International University.
Distinguished speakers included Wu Jianbo, Secretary-General of Green & Smart Energy Organization (GSEO); Sanowar Hossain, Business Manager at CoGot GmbH, Germany; Dr. Sadman Sakib, Co-founder and Director of CSTPD and Senior Genomics Scientist at Evotec SE, Germany; and Tanvir Kabir, Founding Advisor of CSTPD; Counsellor (Political & Projects); and Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Berlin, Germany.The dialogue reinforced CSTPD’s commitment to advancing policy-driven innovation and fostering global collaboration in emerging technologies, particularly at the intersection of AI, health, and life sciences.
