CSTPD Founding Advisor Takes in Bonn, Germany Symposium on Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development

The BonnSymposium on disaster risk reduction and sustainable development was successfully held last week, bringing together over 90 participants for an in-person international dialogue on resilience, climate action, and sustainable development.

The symposium featured high-level discussions with distinguished global speakers, including Sade Gawanas, Mayor of the City of Windhoek, alongside other experts and policymakers working in the fields of disaster risk reduction and sustainability. The event created a strong platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and renewed global engagement.Mr. Tanvir Kabir, Founding Advisor of the Center for Science, Technology Policy & Diplomacy (CSTPD); Counsellor (Political & Projects); and Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Berlin, Germany, also participated in the symposium. He contributed to the broader dialogue on international cooperation, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy, policy coordination, and cross-border collaboration in addressing disaster risks and climate-related challenges.

The event highlighted the importance of in-person global engagement, with participants expressing appreciation for the opportunity to reconnect and collaborate physically after a long period of virtual interactions. Discussions centered on strengthening resilience systems, integrating sustainable development goals, and enhancing international partnerships.

The symposium was organized with support from SEF Development and Peace Foundation, in partnership with Engagement Global gGmbH and the German Committee for Disaster Reduction (DKKV).This engagement reflects CSTPD’s continued commitment to global policy dialogue, sustainability, and strengthening international cooperation in addressing pressing global challenges.
