AIUB Hosts CSTPD Session on SET Award 2026 and Global Energy Innovation

An informative session on “The 10th Edition of the Start Up Energy Transition (SET) Award 2026” was held under the American International University-Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Center for Science, Technology Policy & Diplomacy (CSTPD). The session highlighted global opportunities in sustainable energy innovation and startup ecosystems.

Jointly powered by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) and the World Energy Council, the event brought together experts to discuss innovation, energy transition, and international collaboration.

The session featured Deborah Bartel, Expert in Start-up Ecosystem at dena, who shared insights on global innovation trends and opportunities within the SET Award platform. Prof. Muhammad Tarik Arafat, Professor at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and General Secretary of CSTPD, emphasized the importance of research and youth engagement in advancing sustainable energy solutions.Dr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Professor and Director at AIUB, contributed perspectives on the role of engineering education in supporting energy transformation and innovation.

The session was moderated by Tanvir Kabir, Founding Advisor of CSTPD; Counsellor (Political & Projects); and Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Berlin, Germany. He guided the discussion toward policy, innovation, and global collaboration, highlighting how Bangladeshi students and startups can benefit from such international platforms.The session reinforced CSTPD’s commitment to connecting global innovation platforms with local talent, empowering youth, and promoting sustainable development.
