The Center for Science, Technology Policy & Diplomacy (CSTPD) played a key role at the AsiaBerlin Summit 2024, powering a high-impact panel discussion and startup showcasing session titled “Tech Diplomacy & The Stories of Start-Ups: Debunking the Myth of Existence or Extinction.”
The session brought together global leaders from innovation, investment, and policy to explore how technology and diplomacy intersect in shaping the future of startups. Discussions focused on the challenges startups face in scaling, accessing global markets, and sustaining innovation in an increasingly competitive ecosystem.
Among the distinguished panelists were Dr. Rubaiyat Islam Sadat, Founder and Managing Director of Mulytic Labs GmbH; Essam Al Gobaisi, CEO of Business Intelligence Group and Member of B20 for G20; Harun Lone from Swiss Bio Shield GmbH; Timo Bey, Managing Partner at 8 Impact; Sarbojit Pal, Program Manager for Industrial Decarbonisation initiatives; and Leyla Baghirzade, CEO of Swiss Alternative Financing AG.
The session was moderated by Dr. Muhammad Tarik Arafat, Professor and Head of Biomedical Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, who is also a key figure within CSTPD. He guided the discussion toward the role of tech diplomacy in enabling startups to navigate global uncertainties and build sustainable growth models.Supported by BUETBMES Student Chapter, the session highlighted CSTPD’s commitment to bridging innovation, policy, and global collaboration,positioning Bangladesh as an emerging voice in international tech diplomacy and startup ecosystems.
